Pune : A resident of Kondhwa based society named Palace Orchard has filed an FIR with the Kondhwa Police against 3 persons for not keeping the Indian National Flag as per the Prevention Of Insults To National Honour Act, 1971.Ā 

As per further information from the FIR registered at Kondhwa Police Station, on 14thĀ October 2023 (Saturday), an investigation team from the Deputy Registrar Zone 4 Market Yard Pune came to the said society at 11.30 am to meet the Society Chairman, Secretary & other members for an investigation into an ongoing case of misappropriation of funds. The investigation committee led by Ashutosh Pardeshi was on a society visit regarding an ongoing legal matter.Ā 

Ashish Kekde, a resident of the society, has filed a complaint against the chairman Suvarna Punekar, secretary Jasmine Thakkar and former secretary Rajveer Singh at Kondhwa police station for disrespecting the national flag. Ā Ā 

The meeting with the investigation committee was attended by chairman Suvarna Punekar, secretary Jasmine Thakkar, Vishal Tiwari, society committee member, Rajveer Singh, Nikhil Chaturvedi, Prajakta Pethkar, Amjad Shaikh, Shalini Noronha, Prabodh Sachdeva, Col Reen and Ashish Kekde. 

While the investigation was going on one of the investigation committee members noticed the cupboard in the office and asked the chairman to take down what was on the cupboard, on which the manager of the society took down the things from above the cupboard and the committee member of the society took down the national flag used for hoisting on 15Ā August 2023.Ā 

The members of the committee did not keep the national flag properly as per the law, but the chairman and secretary of the committee deliberately collected it and rolled it up. 

The FIR further states that some people have knowingly insulted the National Flag by rolling it and folding it without keeping it as per the protocol.Ā A case has been registered at the Kondhwa Police Station under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 against the chairman, secretary and previous secretary. Further investigation into the matter is going on.Ā 

Kekde told Pune Pulse national flag is our pride. No one can accept such disrespect to our nation’s pride. there are many defence personnel in our society who have sacrificed their lives for our country. Action is must against those who disrespect our flag. Utmost care must be taken to handle the flag as per the protocols.

When Pune Pulse tried contacting the members against whom the complaintĀ was filed, one out of three denied speaking while the other did notĀ respond to the calls.Ā 

When Pune Pulse spoke to the investigating officer, Ganesh Torgal, API, Kondhwa police station, he said, “Action would be taken against the people on whom the case is filed as per the law.”
