St. Mathews Academy is a co‑educational day school affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE). Started at Salunke Vihar as a Pre-primary School,it has grown and expanded at the 3 acre Urlidevachi campus.
The founder Principal, Dr. Olive Mathews (Nanima), established the school to reflect her commitment to Indian values, discipline, and academic excellence. This legacy is carried forward by Dr. Sheena Pereira, the current Principal. She comes with a robust leadership experience, aligning academic excellence with student-centric innovation and care. They have developed a strong team of qualified educators.
Facilities & Infrastructure
The school features well‑equipped labs with a dedicated Computer lab, Robotics lab, Smart‑board classrooms, and an online digital platform (SMA Schoolbook) for daily updates, attendance, homework, and parent‑teacher dialogue. Sports infrastructure includes a state of the art playground with a dedicated area for football, Karate and Kho‑Kho along with minor games. This year the school hosted the CISCE Zonal competition for the sports of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi & Karate. The students won laurels and went on to participate in regional and national level for Swimming, Karate Kabaddi & Kho-Kho. . Safety and security are focus areas with cameras in class rooms and bus transport operators being monitored by school staff via live‑tracking for student safety.
Co‑Curricular & Enrichment Activities
The school fosters wellness through yoga, meditation, dance, and music. This is showcased through a wide range of inter-house activities, like quizzes, debates, creative writing, art, and public speaking.
Events & Celebrations
St Mathews cultivates social and cultural awareness through various events comprising Sports Day, Prize Day, Elocution Competitions, Farewell, Dandiya, Christmas Cantata, Fete, Exhibitions (Science, Art & Craft, Flower display), providing students to showcase their talent on Founder’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Children’s Day, and Yoga Day, etc.
Discipline & Parent Engagement
Ensuring that the parents are involved in the development of the child, the school provides multiple occasions and platforms for teacher-parent communication, interaction, and collaboration. Parents stay engaged via SMA Schoolbook, PTA meetings, and scheduled visits with Teachers or the Principal.
