Pune: To facilitate commuting during the festivities of Diwali for the public, the State Transport Corporation (ST) has made preparations to offer extra transportation services. A total of 77 buses have been scheduled to operate from Vallabh Nagar, covering various state routes.

Pimpri-Chinchwad City, which attracts individuals from all over the state and beyond for employment and business, experiences an increase in the number of people wanting to visit their hometowns to celebrate the festival. Considering the significant number of travellers during the Diwali holidays, the ST administration has made the decision to release an additional 512 buses from Pune. Furthermore, 77 buses have been arranged from Vallabh Nagar. This initiative aims to facilitate the journeys of those travelling from the city to their villages.

To make travel planning easier, the ST Corporation has also introduced online ticket booking in addition to the traditional ticket window options. These transportation services have been organized to accommodate passengers travelling to and from the Marathwada and Western Maharashtra regions. It is worth noting that the Khadki cantonment area experiences a high influx of travelers departing for Diwali festivities. As a result, the Swargate, Wakdewadi, and Pimpri-Chinchwad bus stands in Pune often reach full capacity due to the influx of passengers and trains.

To manage the additional demand, the ST administration rents large grounds in the Khadki cantonment area every year and organizes extra buses. This year, the ST administration has followed its well-established plan, recognizing the importance of the Pimpri-Chinchwad region and its connectivity to various locations. Consequently, passengers from Khadki and Shivajinagar are also included in the transportation arrangements, ensuring convenient travel during the festive season.
