Strike : Government employees to go on indefinite strike over pension issues from March 14

Pune: The Maharashtra State Government Employees Federation ( MSGEF) threatened to go on indefinite strike from 14 March on the issue of the old pension scheme.

Teachers’ unions in the state have also expressed their support for this strike. The strike notice will be given to the government on March 14. Considering the strike, the state government has called a meeting with all stakeholders to discuss all issues in detail. It was said that more than 16 lakh state government employees will participate in the strike after the state government earlier refused to implement the old pension scheme during the budget session.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, held a  meeting with opposition leaders on Monday,13 March to arrive at a solution to the issue. State government has decided to appoint a committee of  administrative officers to study the detailed issue of the pension scheme and requested a call of the strike.

Member of Legislative Council Kapil Patil has appealed to all the teachers and non teaching staff to participate in the strike over the demand of the old pension scheme. It was said that this decision of teaching and non teaching staff to participate in strike is likely to affect the state board’s 10 and 12 exams.
