Swift RPF Action Saves Passenger at Lonavala; Separate Pune Track Incident Leaves Three Dead
Life hung by a thread at Lonavala railway station when a dramatic rescue unfolded right on the platform. CCTV footage—now widely shared across social media—shows RPF jawan Narendra Mohan racing into action to save passenger Shring Gupta from a potentially fatal fall on November 23.
Moments earlier, the Chennai Express had begun moving out of Lonavala station. Gupta, who had stepped out of his AC coach, tried to climb back in as the train gathered momentum.
His foot slipped, placing him in extreme danger of being dragged into the narrow gap between the platform and the train. Reacting instantly, Mohan rushed forward, grabbed Gupta, and pulled him away from harm. Thanks to that quick intervention, a major tragedy was prevented.
The rescue took place around 1:15 pm on Sunday, and the video has ignited a wave of praise online for Mohan’s quick thinking and courage.

Tragedy, however, struck elsewhere in Pune district. Three youths lost their lives on November 17 after being run over by a train near the Manjari area on the city’s outskirts. The incident occurred late Sunday night.
According to initial reports, a group of five to six youngsters—believed to be between 18 and 20 years old—were on the railway tracks, with some walking and others seated. They were reportedly “involved in some mischief” when the speeding train approached.
An official from the Hadapsar police station explained, “Early information suggests the group was on the tracks—some sitting, some moving around—and during what appeared to be some kind of mischief, three of them were struck by a train around 9 pm on Sunday.”
