Swiggy, Zomato Agents Earn More Than Some Software Engineers. Guess Their Salary ...
YouTuber Loveena Kamath sheds light on the earnings of Swiggy and Zomato delivery agents in Bengaluru, revealing that they can earn more than the average IT engineer.
A recent interview by YouTuber Loveena Kamath has shed light on the earnings of Swiggy and Zomato delivery agents in Bengaluru, revealing that they can earn more than the average IT engineer. Kamath, who runs the Full Disclosure YouTube channel, spoke with two delivery agents in India’s IT hub and discovered that their monthly earnings surpass those of many software engineers.
According to Kamath, the average salary for an IT engineer in India is around ₹20,000 per month. In contrast, the delivery agents she interviewed reported earning between ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 monthly. One of the agents, Shiva, a 22-year-old Swiggy driver, shared that he has been working in the delivery field for three years. His income is comprised of a base pay of ₹20 per order, along with additional earnings from tips and incentives. Shiva mentioned that he receives approximately ₹5,000 per month in tips.
Shiva has managed to save ₹2 lakh in the past six months and plans to use his savings to start a business in his village. “I want to open a D-Mart. It will create employment opportunities for the people of my village,” he told Kamath.
Kamath also interviewed Taiyappa, a Zomato delivery agent who has been on the job for three years and confirmed that he earns close to ₹40,000 per month. Kamath shared these insights on Instagram, highlighting that it is 2024 and food delivery partners are earning more than software engineers.
However, she also clarified in her video that most delivery agents do not see this as a long-term career but rather as a way to save money for better opportunities. She pointed out that these agents often work 12 to 13 hours a day to achieve these earnings.
Some people in the comments section were impressed by the earnings, while others pointed out how hard the delivery agents work as compared to software engineers.
“But the pain of working like that is completely different from engineers,” wrote one Instagram user.
“People don’t understand the engineer may start at 25-30k but eventually he or she will see major growth in thr package whereas the delivery guy won’t…so let’s not compare,” another said.
“I know a Zomato rider who made 70k in a month because he used to work day and night nonstop. In fact, he made so much money by making so many deliveries that Zomato gifted him a laptop and even an electric scooter,” an Instagram user revealed in the comments section of the video
