Third Accused Arrested in Bopdev Ghat Gangrape Case Near Pune
PUNE: The Pune police have arrested the third and final suspect involved in the Bopdev Ghat gangrape case that shocked the city in October 2024. The accused, identified as Suraj alias Bapu Gosavi, was apprehended at the Akluj bus stand in Solapur district with the help of Walchandnagar police, officials said on Saturday.
The incident, which triggered widespread public outrage, involved the alleged gangrape of a 21-year-old woman by three men at Bopdev Ghat, located on the outskirts of Pune.
The woman, accompanied by a male friend, was attacked on October 3, 2024. Her friend was also physically assaulted during the attack.
Following the incident, two of the accused — Chandrakumar Ravi Prasad Kanojia and Akhtar Babu Shaikh — were arrested swiftly. However, Gosavi had been absconding for months, prompting an extensive manhunt.

The arrest marks a significant development in the high-profile case, with authorities assuring swift action to ensure justice for the survivor.
