The long-pending issue of the third and fourth routes of the Pune-Lonavala railway line may soon be resolved, boosting Mumbai-Pune connectivity. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar recently discussed the state’s share in the project.

The state government has expressed willingness to contribute its share, paving the way for progress. The demand for additional railway lines has been pending for years, with the central and state governments debating equal sharing of costs.

According to Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, resolving this issue will greatly benefit commuters. “Once the issue is resolved, traffic on the Pune-Mumbai railway line will move faster, and freight train speeds will increase,” Mohol stated.

The expansion will also alleviate congestion and allow for increased local train services between Pune-Lonavala. This will bring significant relief to passengers traveling between the two cities.

The next steps involve officials pursuing discussions with the central government to finalize project details. With the state government’s commitment to sharing costs, this breakthrough promises to transform the commute between Pune and Mumbai, making travel faster, safer, and more convenient.

The enhanced railway network will boost connectivity, efficiency, and economic growth in the region. Commuters can look forward to a smoother and more reliable travel experience.
