Three friends sharing a hug before being engulfed by floods; shakes internet

A heartbreaking video capturing the last moments of three friends sharing a hug before being swept away by powerful floodwaters has gone viral, shaking the internet with its poignant and tragic content. 

The footage shows the friends, identified as Patrizia Cormos, 20, Bianca Doros, 23, and Cristian Molnar, 25, clinging to each other in a desperate attempt to survive the overwhelming currents.

The trio found themselves stranded on a small island in the middle of a river, just meters away from the safety of the riverbank. Despite their close proximity to safety, the powerful floodwaters proved too strong. Reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred as the friends tried to navigate the turbulent waters to reach the shore.

Rescuers were quickly alerted to the situation after one of the women managed to place a call for help. However, despite their rapid response, the rescuers could not reach the friends in time. Giorgio Basile, the head of the provincial firefighters in Udine, shared the harrowing details with the media. “We threw them a rope, but we witnessed them being engulfed by the floodwaters right before our eyes. We saw them vanish,” he said. Basile emphasized the extreme danger posed by the river’s intense currents and turbulent waters, which even seasoned professionals found hazardous.

The bodies of Cormos and Doros were found approximately one kilometer downstream from where they were last seen, as reported by the Daily Mail. Molnar’s status was not detailed in the reports, indicating a potential ongoing search or investigation.

Michele De Sabata, the mayor of the nearby town of Premariacco, noted the unpredictability of the river’s conditions. “Those who live in Premariacco know the river and how conditions can change quickly. The three kids arrived when it was sunny. They could not have known what was about to happen. It only took minutes,” De Sabata explained, highlighting the sudden and devastating nature of the incident.
