Tiger Steps Out of Tadoba-Andhari Reserve Amid Scorching Heat, Blocks Road
Chandrapur: As summer temperatures soar, water scarcity is not only affecting humans but also wildlife. A tiger from the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra was recently spotted stepping out of its habitat in search of water.
The big cat was seen crossing the Sitarampeth-Moharli road, leaving vehicles at a standstill as drivers watched in awe.

The rare sight was captured by wildlife researcher and photographer Deep Kathikar. Despite the reserve having both natural and artificial waterholes, the extreme heat is pushing tigers beyond their usual territory in search of water sources.
Tadoba-Andhari is Maharashtra’s largest tiger reserve, known for its thriving tiger population in both core and buffer zones. Popular tigers like “Chhota Matka” and “Nayan Tara”, often seen in the buffer areas, have become favorites among wildlife enthusiasts.
However, tiger sightings outside protected areas are increasing, with locals frequently reporting encounters on roads.
Two days ago, Deep Kathikar witnessed the tiger calmly crossing the road, glancing at the waiting vehicles before disappearing into the forest. Such incidents highlight the growing challenges of wildlife conservation amid rising temperatures.
The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve attracts thousands of tourists annually, with many visiting to catch a glimpse of these majestic predators. However, with tiger numbers rising, interactions with humans are becoming more frequent, especially in villages surrounding the reserve.
