As we age, our hobbies often take a back seat. The demands of life can consume us, and we may find ourselves settling into comfortable routines. However, injecting some novelty by rekindling an old hobby or exploring a new one can inject excitement and vitality back into our lives.

In April 2022, a Japanese individual named Toco made waves by undergoing a transformation into a dog, spending Rs 12 lakh on a collie dog costume. Now, he’s back in the spotlight once more.

He has recently revealed that he wants to transform into a four-legged animal, like a panda or a bear. In an interview with the Japanese news outlet WanQol, Toco discussed the difficulties he encounters when appearing in public as a dog. Toco shares his journey of transforming into a dog with his audience of over 65,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, “I want to be an animal.”

The first time Toco ventured outdoors in his Rs 12 lakh collie costume, he shared with his 30,000 YouTube followers that earlier he had been enjoying activities in his backyard while dressed as a dog, including walking on all fours and practising tricks for pretend dog treats, but now he took his first steps into the outside world to interact with people and animals.

In videos posted on his YouTube channel “I want to be an animal,” Toco, dressed as a dog, is seen going for a walk on a leash and later exploring a park while sniffing at other dogs and rolling around on the ground. “I fulfilled my dream of being a dog and walking outside,” Toco wrote on YouTube.

Recently, in the interview, he explained to the outlet that mimicking a dog’s movements poses challenges due to the distinct skeletal structures of dogs and humans. He shared his ongoing research into achieving more authentic dog-like movements. Additionally, he mentioned the inconvenience of maintaining his costume, particularly cleaning it after outdoor outings. Dust and dirt accumulation in the fur require considerable effort for regular cleaning.

He expressed his desire to “transform into” various four-legged animals beyond just dogs. He mentioned his interest in embodying creatures like pandas, bears, foxes or cats. However, he acknowledged the physical limitations of smaller animals like foxes and cats for human transformation. Despite this, he remains hopeful that one day he’ll realise his dream of assuming the form of another animal.

The dog lover plans to maintain anonymity to avoid judgement from acquaintances and those familiar with him.

“I prefer to keep my hobbies private,” he previously mentioned to the media, “especially from my colleagues. They find it strange that I aspire to be a dog. That’s why I choose not to reveal my true identity.”
