Tragic Accident On Pune-Solapur Highway: 2 Dead, 40-50 Injured As Two ST Buses Collide

A devastating accident occurred on the Pune-Solapur highway in the Varwand area of Daund taluka on Monday evening, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving dozens injured. According to police reports, the accident involved two State Transport (ST) buses.

One bus was traveling from Pune to Solapur when the driver lost control after a bike rider suddenly crossed its path. The bus broke through the divider and collided with an oncoming ST bus on the Tuljapur-Pune route. The impact of the collision was severe, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Two people died on the spot, identified as Namdev Baburao Adhav (78), a resident of Chinchpur, Ashti, district Beed, and Suvarna Santosh Hole (38), a resident of Birobawadi, Patas, district Daund. The drivers and conductors of both buses were seriously injured in the accident.

Police reported that 40-50 passengers were injured, with three in critical condition. “The accident was severe, and our teams are working to provide aid to the injured,” said a police official. Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide assistance and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

The incident caused significant disruption on the highway, with traffic delayed for several hours. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to determine the cause of the accident.
