Two all women post offices inaugurated by Pune Post

On the occasion of “International Women’s Day”,  Pune city’s first ever Women Post Offices (Mahila Dak Ghar) operated completely by women staffers were inaugurated by G Madhumita Das, Postmaster General, Pune Region on 8 March, 2022.  

Two post offices, Pune Cantonment East P O and Dr B A Chowk P O are inaugurated as “Women Post Offices”. 

All the official positions at these 2 Post Offices from Postmaster in-charge to Counter clerks, support staff will be managed completely by women.  They will manage and supervise all types of work including, Savings Bank Counters, Multipurpose registration booking counters, Speed Post booking, Parcel booking, Aadhar Services, India Post Payment Bank services, Postal Life Insurance etc.,

This is a new initiative in Pune City in concurrence with commitment of India Post towards women empowerment under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.  Main objective behind this is to provide a quick and supportive services to citizens of those areas. 

The All Women Post Offices will provide complete investment support to the residents of those areas including Savings Bank(SB), Recurring Deposit(RD), Time Deposit(TD), Public Provident Fund(PPF), National Savings Certificates(NSC), Sr.Citizen Savings Schemes(SCSS), Monthly Income Scheme(MIS) etc.,  

All postal business counters were also made operational, with proper display of services. Until now, Pune did not have any such All-Women Post Office. 

The women staffers deployed at these 2 Post Offices thanked the Department of Posts and the Government for keeping faith in them. They also assured to provide all Postal related services like savings bank, Speed Post booking, Aadhar centre services etc., to the customers.

“These 2 Post Offices will function like any other normal post office. Having this kind of post offices will certainly make women customers comfortable while interacting with the staff. They won’t hesitate,”  Postmaster General G.Madhumita Das added, after inaugurating the Women Post Offices. 
Walked-in female customers expressed satisfaction on this initiative of the Pune Postal Region and welcomed the gesture. 

Simran Kaur, Director Postal Services, Pune Region and Goparaju Satish, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Pune City East Division and staff of Pune City Division were present during the inauguration.
