Two farmers go missing after falling into tunnel joining Nira and Bhima rivers in Pune district

Pune, November 23 : In an unfortunate incident, two farmers reportedly went missing after they fell into a 300 feet deep tunnel that was made to link the Nira and Bhima rivers in Pune district. The search is on for them, officials said.

Anil Bapurao Narute and Ratilal Balbhim Narute were pulling up a submersible water pump through an open shaft of the tunnel near Akole village in Indapur tehsil when the rope snapped and they fell down, said a district administration official. They were apparently checking on why the supply stopped abruptly.

Member of Parliament Baramati constituency Supriya Sule also shared about the incident on her X handle.

The two were lifting water for irrigation purposd using the water pump. The incident took place at 5.30 pm, according to sources.
