UGC NET June 2024 Results: Delay In Releasing Sparks OutrageÂ
The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2024 re-examination results have been delayed, sparking widespread outrage and anxiety among aspirants. The results, initially expected within a month of the re-examination, are still pending, leaving thousands of students in limbo.
The re-examination, held from August 21 to September 4, 2024, was conducted after the initial June 18 exam was canceled due to allegations of a question paper leak. However, the provisional answer key released on September 26 was marred by errors, further complicating the process. This unacceptable delay has fueled frustration among students.
“The delay is unacceptable,” said a UGC NET aspirant. “We’ve already lost precious time due to the re-examination. Now, our academic and professional futures are uncertain.” Many students have expressed similar concerns, fearing missed opportunities for higher education and job placements.
Ujjawal Gaur, a Supreme Court advocate, has intervened, writing to the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA), urging them to expedite the result announcement. Gaur highlighted the delay’s impact on students’ fundamental rights, citing Articles 14 and 19(1)(g) of the Indian Constitution.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing mounting pressure to release the results. “We’re working diligently to ensure accuracy,” an NTA official said. “We understand the students’ concerns and will announce the results soon.” However, no official date has been confirmed.
As the delay prolongs, students’ frustration grows, and their futures remain uncertain. Candidates can check the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in, for updates on the final answer key and results. The Times of India’s live blog will provide the latest information on the controversy.
The delay has affected over 1 lakh candidates who appeared for the UGC NET June 2024 re-examination. With over 30 errors reported in the provisional answer key and results delayed by over four weeks, academic and job opportunities are closing due to the delay. The situation demands immediate attention from the authorities to mitigate the impact on students’ lives.
