Mumbai Police have taken legal action against social media influencer Urfi Javed for tarnishing their reputation by sharing a fake arrest video. The police department has registered a criminal case under sections 171, 419, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in response to the incident.

The controversy arose when a viral video surfaced, depicting a woman allegedly being arrested by the Mumbai Police for an obscenity-related case. However, Mumbai Police clarified that the video was misleading and that both the police insignia and uniform had been misused. This clarification was posted on the social media platform X in response to the video’s wide circulation, which claimed “Urfi Javed arrested.”

In their statement, the police confirmed, “A criminal case has been registered against those involved in the misleading video at Oshiwara Police Station. Meanwhile, as the investigation progresses, the individual posing as a fake inspector has been placed under arrest, and the vehicle used has been seized.”
