A senior Amazon employee has revealed that he has been collecting a substantial salary without making any notable contributions to the company for over a year and a half. The anonymous confession, shared on the professional forum Blind, has quickly attracted widespread attention.
The individual, a Senior Technical Program Manager at Amazon, admitted to joining the company with the goal of earning a high salary while performing minimal work. He disclosed that his annual compensation totals around $370,000 (approximately ₹3 crore). Despite this impressive paycheck, he has managed to avoid making any significant achievements or contributing meaningfully to his role.

In his post on Blind, the employee detailed his strategy of doing as little as possible. “I joined Amazon 1.5 years ago after being laid off from Google,” he wrote. “My plan was to do nothing, collect a paycheck, and eventually get placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).” He also mentioned that in his time at Amazon, he has completed only seven support tickets and developed a single automated dashboard, which he falsely claimed took three months to build. In reality, he created it in just three days with the help of ChatGPT.
The employee explained that his daily routine consists mainly of attending meetings and deflecting work requests from other teams. “My current job mainly involves saying no to other teams wanting to collaborate with mine and making them handle most of the integration work,” he added.
This revelation has sparked a lively debate online. Some users criticize the employee, suggesting that his behavior undermines the work ethic and integrity of the workforce. Others argue that it highlights broader issues within corporate structures.
One user on X remarked, “These people are ruining the game for those who genuinely want to work and earn an honest day’s pay.” Another commented, “When the system is rigged, it’s smart to exploit it.” Conversely, some users defended the employee, arguing that corporate inefficiencies and failures often create opportunities for such behavior.
