A disturbing video showcasing the unsanitary production of soya chaap in an Agra factory has gone viral, raising significant concerns about food safety and hygiene. The clip has prompted many to question the safety of street food, with some even vowing never to eat the popular vegetarian dish again.

The video shows workers handling the soya chaap mixture without gloves, mixing it by hand while standing barefoot in a large tub of soybean pulp. Additionally, some workers were seen spreading the batter on the floor before shaping it into small balls on sticks. These visuals have garnered millions of views across social media platforms, leaving many viewers disgusted.

One social media user commented, “Soya Chaap will never be the same for me after watching this,” while another demanded, “This food should be banned.” Others urged the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to take immediate action against the factory.

Despite some attempts to downplay the situation—such as one user assuring, “They boil it in the end, so it’s all fine”—the overwhelming sentiment was one of disgust and concern. Many also questioned the ingredients used, particularly the extensive use of flour (maida) in the soya chaap preparation.

“The name is only Soya Chaap, but there’s no soya, only maida. The most harmful element for the human body,” fumed one commenter.

For many online, the conclusion was clear: they would avoid soya chaap altogether, at least until stricter regulations are enforced. Soya chaap, typically made from a combination of soy chunks, soybeans, and flour, has become a popular street food and restaurant dish across India due to its meat-like texture and flavor.
