Visitor Falls into 250-Foot Gorge at Sinhagad Fort; Rescue Operation Underway
Pune: A visitor has fallen into a 250-foot-deep gorge below the Zunjar Buruj at Sinhagad Fort, triggering a rescue operation. Authorities are working to assess the individual’s condition, as it remains unclear whether they are alive.
The incident was discovered by guards from the Archaeological Department, who spotted the individual lying among the rocks while performing routine cleaning activities. The presence of early morning visitors, who often come to the fort for exercise on Sundays, has raised questions regarding the timing and circumstances of the incident.
Police and forest department personnel from Haveli Police Station have been alerted and are on their way to the site. The rescue operation is expected to begin once the teams arrive.
