Wakad man loses over Rs 35 lakh in online scam; Police register FIR
A 42-year-old Wakad resident was deceived into losing more than Rs 35 lakhs by subscribing to a YouTube channel between February 12 and February 16, 2024.
A 42-year-old Kaspate Wasti, Wakad resident named Yogesh Madhavrao Sonar has filed a complaint with the Wakad Police Station.
As per further information from the FIR accessed by Pune Pulse, the FIR has been filed against 4 accused, identified as Shambavi Soni & 3 Telegram handles.
The accused contacted the complainant via mobile at 92854 19725. The complainant was lured into subscribing to YouTube exclusively through WhatsApp, with no upfront investment. The accused methodically kept looting the complainant, taking advantage of the complainant’s initial perception of benefits, to extract a total of Rs 35,25,364 through multiple bank accounts.
After realizing that he was being duped, Yogesh Sonar registered an FIR with Wakad Police on 26th February 2024.
The accused are booked under Sections 34, 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) & Section 66(D) of the IT Act. Further investigation into the matter is going on.
