Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds caused disruptions at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, leading to the diversion of 17 flights scheduled for arrival to Chennai.

Thirteen domestic flights and three international flights, along with a cargo flight, were affected by the adverse weather conditions.

The overnight flooding primarily impacted Terminal 2 (T2) of the airport, which handles most domestic flights. Videos shared on social media depicted water entering the terminal building, causing inconvenience to passengers and impacting flight operations.

Passengers also reported leakage from the ceiling of Terminal 2, particularly near the baggage claim area. The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) spokesperson confirmed that heavy rainfall resulted in water leakage in certain areas of the terminals. Despite the challenges, airport teams responded promptly to mitigate the impact and restore normal operations.
