Pune: In order to enable water supply to about 90 thousand citizens of Chikhali and the surrounding area, water will be supplied directly from the Chikhali Water Purification Center to the water reservoir at Patel Nagar through the municipal administration. Therefore, the water problem in this area will be resolved due to the combined water from the Pavana and Andhra projects.

Mahesh Landge, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Bhosari Constituency, Pimpri Chinchwad said, “We are determined to enable water supply system in the villages included in my Bhosari assembly constituency including Pimpri-Chinchwad city considering the growing population in 30 years. Water from the Andhra project has entered the city. Also, the work of the Bhama Askhed project is also in progress. The administration has taken action to enable water supply in the villages included in Chikhali. Soon Andhra water will enter the water tank at Patil Nagar. This will help to solve the water problem. During the rule of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, various projects in the city were stalled for two and a half years. Development works remained pending. But, now development works are progressing under the rule of Mahayuti, it is a matter of satisfaction. Under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, we are trying to solve the city’s water problem permanently.”

As per further information, local citizens have often complained to the administration regarding the water problem faced by the residents of Chikhali and the surrounding area. BJP MLA Mahesh Landge took the initiative in this regard and suggested the administration take measures to resolve this issue permanently.

The municipal administration has constructed a water reservoir of 20 lakh litres capacity in Patil Nagar. About 16 MLD of water is supplied to this tank from the Ravet dam of the Pavana project. Water is supplied for 20 to 22 hours one day and three to four hours on the next day. Now, the administration has set up a new water treatment plant at Chikhali for water from the Andhra project. A 600 mm pipeline has been laid to bring the water to the water tank at Patil Nagar. Therefore, the availability of water from both the Pavana and Andhra projects will help in a smooth water supply.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the municipal administration, a pump will be installed to bring Andhra water to the Patil Nagar tank. That pump entered the water treatment plant. Former BJP corporators Kundan Gaikwad, Ankush Malekar, Vinayak Aba More, Pandurang Sane, Sandeep Shelar etc. were present on this occasion.

The availability of additional water from the Andhra project will help fill the water tank. There is currently a pump for the tank. The administration is trying to provide one more pump. This will help in maximum water storage. Water supply will be enabled in Chikhali Gavthan, Ramdas Nagar, Nageshwar Vidyalaya, Ramdas Nagar Tappa, Mahadev Nagar, Bhangre Colony, Dharmaraj Nagar, Shelar Vasti, Patil Nagar, Dehu-Alandi Road, Ram Mandir Defence Colony.

MLA Mahesh Landge took up the work of the Andhra and Bhama Askhed project under Vision 2020 to enable water supply in the affected villages. 100 MLD of Andhra Project water has entered the water treatment plant at Chikhali. The water purification center was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis. The said water distribution system is in the final stage. The work of the water supply distribution system in Chikhali, Charholi, Moshi, Dudulgaon, Jadhavwadi, Dighi etc. villages is in progress. This will help to solve the water problem of the affected villages permanently.
