Weather Alert For January 2: Next 24 Hours Critical as Maharashtra Braces for Sharp Cold Spell, IMD Issues Warning
Maharashtra | January 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Maharashtra, warning that the next 24 hours could be challenging as cold winds from North India continue to affect the state.
Fluctuations in temperature are being recorded across regions, even as the chill remains intense during early mornings and nights.
Despite a slight rise in minimum temperatures in some areas, the cold wave impact is still evident, especially in Vidarbha and parts of North Maharashtra, where minimum temperatures have dropped to single digits.
City-wise Weather Update for January 2
- Mumbai: Clear skies are expected. The maximum temperature will hover around 29°C, while the minimum will be near 17°C. Light morning and night chill may be felt. Some parts of Konkan may also experience mild cold conditions.
- Pune (Western Maharashtra): The city is likely to record a maximum temperature of 29°C and a minimum of 11°C. Early morning fog is possible, and motorists have been advised to drive cautiously.
- Marathwada: Dry weather will prevail. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar may see a maximum of 28°C and a minimum of 12°C, with mostly clear skies across the region.
- North Maharashtra: Nashik is expected to record 28°C (max) and 10°C (min). Although temperatures have slightly increased, cold conditions persist.
- Vidarbha: Nagpur may witness temperatures ranging between 30°C and 10°C. Gondia has reported a sharper chill, with minimum temperatures dipping to 8°C.
The IMD has urged citizens to take precautions, especially during late-night and early-morning hours, as cold conditions are expected to continue.
