Maharashtra Weather Update (7 September 2025): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Maharashtra on Sunday, September 7. The warning covers Konkan, North Maharashtra, and Western Maharashtra’s ghat regions, where intense showers are expected.
According to IMD, Palghar district is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, and an Orange Alert has been issued. Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad are under a Yellow Alert with a forecast of heavy rain, while Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg may experience moderate showers.
In Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur, light rain is likely, but Pune ghat areas could see heavy showers, leading to a Yellow Alert. Kolhapur and Satara ghats are also expected to witness moderate rainfall.
Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) and Jalna may see thunderstorms with lightning, prompting a Yellow Alert. Similarly, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
In North Maharashtra, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik, and Ahmednagar will get moderate rainfall, while Nandurbar is under a Yellow Alert for heavy rain. Nashik ghat regions are expected to witness heavy to very heavy showers with an Orange Alert.
Vidarbha and Marathwada districts including Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, Yavatmal, Bhandara, and Gondia may see cloudy skies with light rain. Chandrapur and Gadchiroli could face thunderstorms with lightning, leading to a Yellow Alert.
The IMD has advised residents of affected regions to remain alert and take necessary precautions against waterlogging, flash floods, and traffic disruptions.
