Maharashtra, April 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dual weather alert for Maharashtra on April 18, forecasting a mix of heatwave conditions and unseasonal rainfall across various regions of the state.

According to the latest forecast, some districts are likely to witness cloudy skies with moderate rainfall, while others remain under a yellow alert for rising temperatures, indicating a challenging mix of weather conditions for residents.

Konkan Region

In the Konkan belt, Sindhudurg is expected to experience cloudy conditions with moderate rainfall. However, cities like Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri are likely to remain dry, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 36°C and minimum temperatures between 25°C and 27°C.

Western Maharashtra

Districts including Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli may receive moderate rainfall under cloudy skies. Meanwhile, Pune, Solapur, and surrounding areas are expected to face intense heat, with Solapur also under a yellow alert for possible rainfall. Temperatures here may rise between 36°C and 39°C.

Marathwada

In Marathwada, Beed and Latur are likely to receive rainfall, while Dharashiv remains under a yellow alert for rain. On the other hand, districts such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded are under a yellow alert for heatwave conditions, with temperatures likely to soar between 38°C and 41°C.

Vidarbha

The Vidarbha region is expected to bear the brunt of the heatwave. Districts including Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal are under a yellow alert, with temperatures expected to reach 40°C to 43°C. Heatwave conditions are likely in these areas.

Rest of Maharashtra

No specific alerts have been issued for some parts of the state; however, the weather is expected to remain hot and dry, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35°C and 38°C and minimum temperatures between 23°C and 26°C.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, and remain cautious of sudden weather changes, especially in districts likely to experience rainfall and thunderstorms.
