Weather Update : Monsoon likely to hit Pune by June 19

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert stating the advancement of monsoon in Maharashtra. The weather department informed that the slowly monsoon rain is likely to pick up in our state from 19th June onward for a couple of days especially over Konkan -Goa, Madhya Maharashtra (including Pune district/city). 

Among reasons, a few are strong westerlies from Arabian sea (will give enough moisture incursion) & development of off shore trough/taat duravarti dronika rekha..

Over Pune district/city for the first time monsoon is likely to b active from 19th June onward & will be vigorous  from 20 June onward for 2-3days. Chances of heavy rain in ghat areas in & around Pune City/district can not be ruled out during 21-22 June. Regular updates are shared on the IMD website. 

Even in Marathwada, Vidarbha , rainfall will increase  (as moisture will come from Bay of Bengal also) from 19th onwards. 
Southwest Monsoon has further advanced in our State & covered almost entire Maharashtra (less than 1% remaining)as on today,the 16 June as against normal date of 15 June (to cover entire State).
The NLM is now passing through -Porbandar- Bhavnagar-Khandwa-Gondia(in Vidarbha border)-Durg-Bhawanipatna- Kalingapatnam.
