Many states in the country are currently experiencing extreme cold. But the intensity of the cold is likely to increase in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a drop in temperature and an increase in the cold weather in some parts of central India from January 5 to 11.

According to the IMD, day temperatures are also expected to remain below average, especially over Madhya Pradesh, North Maharashtra, South Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan due to which the weather will remain cold even during the day.

The IMD has predicted heavy rains and strong winds (up to 40-50 kmph) in Lakshadweep during the next three days. Along with this, the IMD has also advised the fishermen not to go into the sea. The IMD forecast includes dense fog over some plains in northwest and east India. Cold-day to severe cold-day conditions are expected over parts of Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan.

Light scattered rain is likely over parts of South Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on January 2 and may increase on the next day.

Dense fog may occur over many parts of Punjab and Haryana, parts of Uttar Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
