The yard remodeling project of Pune railway station is set to start during Diwali and is expected to be completed in 107 days. The project was initially planned to start in summer, but due to its size, it needed to be planned from a micro level, and hence, the Pune Division of Railways requested the Railway Board to start the work after monsoon.

The project is expected to cause disruption in train services, as half of the daily trains departing, arriving, and departing from the station are long distance trains that cannot be diverted to other stations. As a result, local, intercity, and short distance trains will be diverted at Hadapsar, Shivajinagar, and Khadki stations, causing inconvenience to passengers traveling by train in cities near Pune.
