Yek Number Set for Streaming on Zee5 After Disappointing Box Office Run
The Marathi film Yek Number, directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, hit theaters on October 10. Despite initial buzz, the movie had a poor box office performance and is now set to stream on Zee5 from November 8. This marks a quick transition to digital release, less than a month after its cinema debut.
The film stars Dhairya Gholap and Sayli Patil in lead roles and is produced by Tejaswini Pandit and Warda Nadiadwala. Yek Number is a blend of love and political drama, and Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer at Zee5, expressed excitement about its addition to their Marathi content lineup.
Upon release, the film received mixed reviews. Critics praised the performances of the cast but found the first half lacking in momentum. Although it generated some curiosity due to its political storyline, linked to Raj Thackeray, the film struggled to attract audiences. The opening day collection was just ₹17 lakh net, and it failed to gain traction in subsequent weeks.
In total, Yek Number managed to earn only ₹2.3 crore net at the Indian box office, with most revenue from Maharashtra. The movie was made on a budget of ₹7 crore, making its theatrical run a commercial disappointment.
The Marathi film industry had seen two major hits in September with Navra Maza Navsacha 2 and Dharmaveer 2, but the momentum did not continue in October. With the release of bigger films like Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Yek Number concluded its brief theatrical journey.
