Yerawada citizens raise concern about increasing illegal activities ; seek help from police

Pune: The rising number of illegal activities happening in Yerawada ward and the involvement of local youths has irked several citizens. 

Hence, along with former Deputy Mayor Dr Siddhartha Dhende, they filed a complaint with the Yerawada Police on November 23.

As per information shared by Dr Dhende, many citizens of Nagpur Chawl, Panchsheel Nagar, Chandrama Nagar, Jadhav Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Patbandhare Vasahat, Ahilya Society, Karuna Society, Ambedkar Colony have complained that illegal activities such as illegal liquor consumption & sale, gambling, matka, drugs and more are happening regularly. 

However, the citizens did not approach any authority earlier due to fear. “An entire generation is being ruined because so many children and youth are addicted to such things. Also, there are frequent disputes at the local level due to which women and elders feel frightened, ” informed  Dhende. 

Thus, Dhende has requested the cops on behalf of all the citizens to take strict action and stop all these illegal activities immediately. 

Balkrushna Kadam, while speaking to Pune Pulse, said “We had received the complaint letter from Dr Siddharth Dhende & citizens some 5 to 6 days ago. We have started taking strict action against such miscreants.”
