Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath Shares Business Insights with Rapper Badshah and Actress Kriti Sanon on WTF Podcast
In a recent episode of his podcast *WTF*Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, engaged in a lively discussion with rapper Badshah and actress Kriti Sanon, sharing his thoughts on business strategy and investment. The conversation, moderated by Kamath, covered topics such as investment opportunities and entrepreneurial advice.
Kamath highlighted the energy transition sector as a promising area for investment when Badshah asked where one could invest for the best returns. “Energy transition is a major global focus; many of the world’s conflicts have been centered around it,” Kamath noted, emphasizing the move from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. He suggested that investing in solar energy companies, electric vehicle manufacturers, and battery producers could be highly profitable, especially with the current government incentives supporting renewable energy.
Kamath advised entrepreneurs to avoid saturated markets and instead target sectors poised for substantial growth over the next decade. He used Bollywood as an example, explaining that many investors enter the film industry seeking proximity to celebrities but often find their investments unprofitable. He described Bollywood as a funnel where investments tend to diminish without returns.
Kamath encouraged investors to choose industries with significant growth potential, saying, “Select a sector that you believe will grow five to ten times over the next ten years.” He stressed the importance of conducting extensive research before investing in any business and cautioned against jumping into ventures simply out of interest. “From my experience, if a venture doesn’t show promise from the start, it probably never will,” he observed.
Kriti Sanon shared her journey into launching a skincare line, describing it as a decision driven more by passion than strategic planning. While Kamath acknowledged that passion is important, he warned against choosing fields solely based on personal interest, noting that such areas often have intense competition and lower chances of success.
The podcast episode offered listeners valuable advice on identifying promising investment opportunities, understanding market dynamics, and making thoughtful business decisions.
