Zomato Founder Denied Access to Gurgaon Mall’s Main Entrance While Making Food Deliveries.
Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal recently provided a unique perspective by working as a food delivery agent for a day.He shared a video on Instagram revealing that he was asked to use the stairs and was not allowed to enter the Gurugram Ambience Mall while delivering food.
“We arrived at Ambience Mall in Gurgaon to collect an order from Haldiram’s. I was instructed to use a different entrance and soon realized they were directing me to the stairs,” Goyal shared in the video, where he is seen approaching the mall’s entrance dressed in a Zomato delivery boy’s red uniform.
In the video, he has a brief conversation with the security guards, who guide him toward a side staircase. He asks again to confirm whether there are any special elevators for delivery personnel before making his way up the stairs to the third floor to reach the restaurant.
Upon reaching the third floor, Goyal encountered more frustrating news. “I took the stairs to the third floor only to find out that we can’t enter the mall and have to wait on the stairs to receive the orders,” he stated.
The video showed Goyal sitting on the floor with other delivery workers, chatting while waiting for their orders. He said he learned a lot from his fellow delivery partners. Goyal managed to sneak in to pick up the order when the security guard took a break and then headed out to make the delivery. He took on this challenge to understand the struggles of his employees and realized that malls need to work better with delivery partners and treat them more kindly.
Throughout his day as a delivery driver, Goyal made several posts. In one heartfelt video on social media, he expressed his excitement about the experience, saying, “I love delivering food to our customers and enjoying the ride.”
