Kolhapur, Maharashtra: A 10-year-old boy, Shravan Gavade, died of sudden cardiac arrest in his mother’s lap on Friday after feeling unwell while playing near a Ganesh pandal in Kodoli village.

Shravan had returned home complaining of uneasiness. He lay down beside his mother but collapsed shortly after. Despite immediate efforts from his family and neighbors, he could not be revived.

In a separate incident in Kerala, a 45-year-old man, V Junais, died after collapsing on stage during Onam celebrations at the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Junais, a deputy librarian from Wayanad, was dancing with colleagues around 3:20 p.m. when he suddenly fell unconscious. The tragic moment was caught on camera, leaving the audience in shock.

Both incidents highlight the unpredictable nature of sudden cardiac arrest, which can affect people of any age or health condition. Unlike a heart attack caused by blocked arteries, cardiac arrest occurs when the heart’s electrical system fails, stopping blood flow to the brain and vital organs. Without urgent medical intervention, it can be fatal within minutes.
