2 dead, 25 injured after coaches of Chandigarh Dibrugarh express train derails in UP
Owing to this, several trains have been impacted on the route and a few trains have been diverted.

Two passengers have died and 25 others were injured after several coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express train derailed in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, July 18. The incident took place in Pikaura which is located between Gonda and Jhilahi. Out of the 12 coaches, four coaches of the AC compartment derailed a few kilometres before the Jhulahi railway station.
Train number 15904 was heading to Dibrugarh in Assam from Chandigarh. A rescue team has been sent to the site for relief operations.
The cause of the derailment is not yet known and authorities are investigating the incident. Owing to this, several trains have been impacted on the route and a few trains have been diverted.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the accident and directed officials to reach the spot immediately.
“The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them with proper treatment. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the UP CMO added.
On the other hand, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also been briefed about the accident and authorities are monitoring the situation.
