In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old young woman from Raheja Garden Daisy in Wanawadi was scammed of a huge amount of 15 Lakhs by a fraudster, pretending to be a ‘Black Magic Pujari’. A complaint has been registered against the accused named Krishna Narayan Tiwari, age 30, resident of Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. This incident took place between 14 December 2022 and 12 May 2024.

According to the victim, she was approached by a fake pujari and he managed to persuade her to perform a pooja to remove the effect of black magic that someone had done on her. She was constantly worried about quarreling with her husband which further led to her falling for the pooja trap.

Tiwari claimed that his black magic was affecting her negatively and he would destroy it by conducting a pooja. Then, he came to the girl’s house wearing yellow clothes that resembled worship, and soon after the pooja he offered her prasad which was infused with sedatives due to which she passed out.

He later unclothed the woman, clicked half-naked (partially clothed) pictures, and threatened to share these intimate pictures with her contacts. He also threatened to kill her and her daughter which persuaded her to occasionally send portions of money, totalling to a huge amount of 15,30,000/- which included money, a golden mangalsutra, and a DSLR. All this monetary amount was asked to be sent to Tiwari’s and his wife’s (Ankita Tiwari) account.

A case has been registered at the Wanawadi Police Station under the Information Technology Act on May 7, 2024, in the evening. PI Sanjay Patange has been assigned this case and the investigation is supposed to begin on Tuesday.
