Both police commissionerate chiefs have increased police security as a preventive measure to make sure that residents in the Navi Mumbai and Raigad police jurisdictions celebrate New Year’s Eve without any untoward incidents and that law and order is upheld.

According to the police commissioner, over a thousand officers from 20 police stations spread across the two DCP zones as well as police headquarters have been stationed at key locations and nakabandi spots on the streets.

In addition to the two Riot Control Police (RCP) teams and the 87 traffic cops, Raigad SP has reported that 109 police officers and 874 constables have been deployed throughout the Raigad district. The senior police officers of all police stations and traffic units have been specifically instructed by both police chiefs to enforce strict measures against drink-drive behavior. As a result, breathalyzer kits have been given to the traffic officers.

The commissioner of police made an appeal to the people of Navi Mumbai not to drink and drive. Such offenders will face severe legal consequences. Additionally, it is forbidden to use drugs, and anyone found intoxicated while under the influence of drugs will face harsh consequences.

Police will be stationed close to shopping centers and dining establishments to make sure that people celebrating New Year’s Eve on December 31 do not drive home intoxicated. People who are found in possession of drugs will go to jail. Owners of pubs and discos have received warnings to make sure their customers don’t use drugs.
