35th Pune International Marathon held

Pune : 35th Pune International Marathon was held on February 27, 2022 which started at midnight. The marathon began on Saturday night at 12.01 am which was successfully completed by Kalidas Hirve (2hrs 24 mins 32 seconds) covering 42.1 kms in men’s category while Jyoti Gavate won the marathon by covering 42.1 kms in 3 hrs 6 mins 3 seconds in womens category. Since the Covid pandemic is still looming, the marathon was held in the midnight.

State Minister for sports Sunil Kedar flagged off the event from Sanas ground. More than 400 participants took part in the marathon including men’s and women’s category. On February 27 at 5.30 am marathon for 10 kms, 6 am for 5 kms and at 6.30 am for wheelchair category was held. More than 4000 participants took part in the competition.

Pune International Marathon Trustee Abhay Chhajed welcomed all for the event. Senior Congress leader Aba Bagul, ex MLA Deepti Chavadhari, assistant commissioner of police Sushma Chavan, Swargate police station’s inspector Indalkar, Dr Rajeev Yerwadekar, Kamal Vyavahare, Sunil Shinde, Dr Rajiv Jagtap and many others were present.
