Pune: State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil stated that the Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivaji Nagar will provide relief to over 400,000 commuters. He further stated that they will provide cooperation to address any issues in the metro rail work.

This announcement came during a review meeting organized at the Pune airport regarding the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Tata Siemens Metro line, which connects Man-Hinjewadi to Shivaji Nagar.

Rahul Mahiwal, PMRDA Commissioner, Vikas Dhakane, Additional Commissioner Pune Municipal Corporation, Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Pune IT City Metro Rail, and Vijaykumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police were present at the meeting.

Minister Patil expressed satisfaction with the positive response received from passengers during the first phase of the MahaMetro service. The goal is to provide PMPML bus service for citizens from their homes to the metro station. By reducing travel time to the metro station, it is expected that there will be an increase in  the response from citizens. Therefore, it is necessary to have a parking station near the metro station and ensure that the bus service connecting to the metro service is readily available to passengers.

Minister Patil expressed confidence that this metro route, which passes through congested areas of the city, will also help alleviate traffic congestion in the central part of the city. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of Pune Metro Route 3 and suggested that any obstacles hindering the construction of the metro track should be promptly addressed to complete the project as soon as possible. He assured that the government will provide full cooperation for the metro route.

Kapoor provided information about the metro route, stating that there are a total of 23 stations from Man-Hinjewadi to Shivaji Nagar, with work currently underway at 16 stations. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 8,313 crore.
