As of July 31, more than 7 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) have been filed for the Assessment Year 2024-25, with a remarkable surge of over 50 lakh filings recorded on 31st july till 7 pm. This significant milestone reflects the growing compliance and awareness among taxpayers.
The Income Tax Department has been working tirelessly to assist taxpayers with their ITR filing, tax payment, and related services. A 24×7 helpdesk is operational, providing support through various channels including calls, live chats, WebEx sessions, and Twitter/X. This comprehensive support system aims to address any issues or queries that taxpayers may have during the filing process.
In a statement, the Income Tax Department extended its gratitude to taxpayers and tax professionals for their cooperation and efforts in reaching this milestone. They also urged those who have not yet filed their ITR for the current assessment year to do so promptly.
