Pune Weather News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall across several parts of the state over the next four days, with a red alert issued for the Ghats.
Weather Alert for Pune and Satara:
A red alert has been issued for Pune and Satara districts in Western Maharashtra due to anticipated heavy to very heavy rainfall. The IMD has warned of intense rainfall in the Ghats over the next four days.
Heavy rainfall has been ongoing in the Konkan and Central Maharashtra Ghats for several days. On Saturday, continuous heavy rain was recorded. The forecast also predicts intense rainfall in parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada over the next four days.
Alert Levels:
- Red Alert: Pune, Satara, Ghats
- Orange Alert: Parts of Vidarbha including Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Bhandara, and Gondia districts.
- Yellow Alert: Kolhapur, Nashik, Nagar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, and parts of Marathwada including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Hingoli, and Nanded.
Heavy Rainfall in Lonavala:
Lonavala city has seen a significant increase in rainfall, with 139 mm recorded in the past 24 hours. The city has received 3,815 mm of rain this year. The region is experiencing high water levels in waterfalls and the Bhushi Dam.
Water Release from Dams:
- Pawna Dam: 92% full. Water is being released at a rate of 3,200 cusecs, with 1,800 cusecs through the spillway and 1,400 cusecs through the hydroelectric center. The release will increase to 3,600 cusecs by 7 PM on Saturday.
- Khadakwasla Dam: The release into the Mutha River will be increased from 27,016 cusecs to 29,414 cusecs by 9 AM. Adjustments may be made as needed.
Traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and National Highway has slowed due to heavy rains, and tourist spots are seeing an increase in visitors.
