Pune: In the early hours of Sunday, Pune City Police arrested a 27-year-old man, identified as Saleem Golekhan, for allegedly using a forged airline ticket to enter Pune Airport. The incident occurred as Saleem attempted to board a flight to Lucknow alongside his father, who had a valid ticket.

The arrest followed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) at Vimantal police station. Saleem, a resident of Mohan Nagar in Chinchwad with roots in Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended after airport authorities detected the fraudulent ticket at the airline counter. The fake ticket included a PNR number, which raised suspicion among the airline staff, leading to Saleem’s detention.

Senior Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari of the Vimantal police station stated, “Initial investigations indicate that Saleem’s father had booked a return flight to Lucknow, and Saleem, who had come to drop him at the airport, used a forged ticket to accompany him. The airline staff quickly identified the ticket as fake, prompting his arrest.”
