Pune Girl Wins Bronze At Global Skate Championship 2024 In Italy
The Indian Women’s Roller Derby Skating Federation has achieved a historic victory by securing a bronze medal at the “Global Skate Championship 2024” held in Montesilvano, near Rome, Italy.
In this prestigious event, athlete Mruganyani Santosh Shinde played a pivotal role in bringing home the bronze for India by delivering outstanding performances against competitors from the USA, Australia, and China. In the semifinals, she led her team to a commanding victory over China with a score of 127-39.

Roller derby places significant emphasis on the “jammer” position, and Mruganyani excelled in this role. She outperformed Australia’s fastest jammer, leaving an indelible mark as one of the best and fastest jammers in the competition.
Mruganyani has been selected for the Indian national team for international games in 2022, 2023, and 2024, with training camps held in Greater Noida, Kohimatur, and Delhi. Originally from Tadval, Koregaon in Satara district, she now resides in Bhugaon, Pune.
Her passion for skating began in sixth grade when she joined the Mahesh Balbhavan Skating Academy in Pune. She has since amassed an impressive collection of medals, including five gold and three silver medals while representing Maharashtra and the national team.
Currently in her final year of B.Com at BMCC, she is also studying for her CS degree. With relentless dedication and hard work, Mruganyani has garnered admiration and recognition at all levels, celebrating her achievements in her hometown, Pune, and beyond.
