Swiggy Instamart, the quick-commerce division of Swiggy, has launched a clever campaign urging Mumbai residents to participate in the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly elections. As part of this initiative, some customers in Mumbai have been receiving free tinday (Indian round gourd) with their orders.

This unique campaign came to light when Mumbai-based X user Eesha Tirodkar shared a photo of a paper bag containing the tinday. The bag carried a thought-provoking message: “Didn’t choose tinday but stuck with tinday? That’s what happens when someone else makes the choice for you. Cast your vote. Own your choices.”

Swiggy Instamart’s creative wordplay links tinday with Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra’s current chief minister, reminding citizens of the importance of voting to shape their government. Tirodkar’s post about the campaign went viral, sparking widespread applause for its ingenuity.

Polling for Maharashtra’s 288 assembly constituencies began today, with the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) as the primary contenders. Swiggy’s campaign cleverly highlights the stakes of staying away from the polls, equating it to being “stuck with tinday” you didn’t choose.

Voting will conclude at 6 pm, and Swiggy’s message is clear: step out and make your voice heard.
