Man Attacked, Thumb Partially Severed Over Dog Chasing Incident At Juhu Chowpatty
Mumbai: A shocking incident occurred at Juhu Chowpatty, where a 26-year-old man was attacked and had his thumb partially severed for chasing away a barking dog. The Juhu Police have arrested the accused and registered a case of attempted murder under sections 109, 352 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act.
The victim, Arjun Kailas Giri (26), was at Juhu Chowpatty with his friend Ramsingh Rajput on Sunday. As they were leaving via Birla Lane, a dog from a nearby food stall charged at Giri. Frightened, Giri picked up a chair to shoo the dog away.
An unidentified man at the spot became enraged at Giri’s action, verbally abused him, and started pushing him. The attacker then grabbed a knife from the food stall and began stabbing Giri repeatedly, severing half of his left thumb and causing multiple injuries to his stomach, back, arms, and head.
Locals rushed Giri to Cooper Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment, and his condition is stable. Based on Giri’s statement, the police swiftly arrested the attacker, identified as Omkar Manohar Mukhiya alias Omkar Sharma (25), a catering worker.
