Pune: MahaRERA Resolves Over 5,267 Homebuyer Complaints In 10 Months, Boosting Transparency and Trust
Pune, October 28, 2025: The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has successfully resolved more than 5,200 complaints from homebuyers over the past ten months, delivering a major blow to errant builders across the state. This progress marks a significant step towards enhancing transparency and restoring confidence in the real estate sector.
Between October 2024 and July 2025, a total of 3,743 new complaints were filed across Maharashtra. During the same period, 5,267 cases — both new and pending — were resolved. Authorities noted that the first hearing in most cases is now scheduled within one to two months, reducing the long wait times that complainants previously faced.
MahaRERA considers home purchase a lifetime investment. Protecting every buyer’s rights is our top priority.
Recently, MahaRERA introduced a new rule mandating legal, financial, and technical verification before any project can be registered. This triple-layer scrutiny aims to prevent stalled or delayed projects in the future.
Since its establishment in 2017, MahaRERA has received 30,833 complaints, out of which 23,726 have been resolved. Maharashtra currently has 51,481 registered projects, with 5,792 of them facing complaints.
Pune, being the state’s largest housing market, also accounts for a significant portion of these cases. Most complaints relate to project delays, lack of promised amenities, and breach of commitments. However, the faster resolution process in recent months has provided much-needed relief to homebuyers in Pune.
Experts say MahaRERA’s swift action has increased pressure on developers — a positive sign for the real estate market. While they emphasize that prompt enforcement of these orders remains essential, the regulator’s improved efficiency has undoubtedly strengthened buyer confidence and advanced transparency across the housing sector.
