Pune, November 26, 2025: Citizens of Bibwewadi have raised concerns over the prolonged delay in the drainage work at Mahesh Society Chowk. According to local residents, the project has been ongoing for several years, leaving the road partially dug and unusable.

Mandar Vedak, a resident, highlighted that the road has been under excavation for over a week as part of ongoing efforts to pave the chowk, but there is no clarity on when the work will be completed.

Another resident from Bibvewadi commented that the drainage work has been going on for years now. From the Covid19 era the work began which is continuing even today. This area has been under constant road closures for several projects undertaken by PMC. The civic authorities should expedite the work. Also, information boards stating the details of the project must be displayed prominently.”

“The road is currently left in a rough condition, making it difficult for residents to use. We request the concerned authorities to take immediate action and provide a timeline for the completion of both the drainage and road work,” he said.

Residents have also suggested that a notice board indicating the expected completion date should be installed at the site to inform the public. “It has become increasingly inconvenient for daily commuters and locals. Timely completion and clear communication are necessary,” Vedak added.

The community hopes that the Pune Municipal Corporation and relevant departments will address the issue promptly, ensuring that the Mahesh Society

Chowk is restored for safe and smooth passage for residents.

A PMC official from the drainage department said, “The Ambil Odha to Mahesh Society Chowk stretch has a 900 mm box culvert and drainage line, and this year we have not received a single complaint of water logging during monsoon. This stretch also has a box culvert of 2.5 meters by 2.5 meters. Now, the work has started from Mahesh society Chowk to the gas godown, which has a 2-meter by 2-meter box culvert along with parallel drainage line work. This will also stop the complaints of water logging in internal lanes of Mahesh society. The work takes time as the cuts are deep and lines are laid at frequent intervals so that the local residents do not face any problem.”
