Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, along with the Wakad Traffic Department, has started bringing its ‘Traffic Buddy’ chatbot outreach directly to housing societies in Wakad and Punawale. The team is conducting awareness sessions to help residents understand how to use the chatbot to report traffic problems quickly.

With support from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Housing Society Federation, the campaign has already covered major societies such as Rhythm, Western Avenue, Akshar Elementa, Sanskruti, and Kalpataru Harmony. The goal is to make traffic management a shared effort between citizens and the police.

During a recent session at D.S.K. Kunjban Society in Punawale, officers explained how residents can use the WhatsApp-based chatbot to report obstructions, accidents, damaged signboards, and other issues within seconds. Complaints can be sent directly on WhatsApp at 8788649885.

Assistant Police Inspector Madhukar Thorat from the Wakad Traffic Department said the tool gives citizens a quick way to alert the police about problems on the road. He urged residents to use the service to keep Wakad and Punawale safer.

Strong Response From Residents

The workshop saw active participation from society members. Chairman Adhikarrao Dive-Patil, Secretary Nilesh Kale, and other committee members facilitated the interaction. Residents spoke with API Thorat and Police Constable Kapil Sable, clearing their doubts and testing the chatbot on their phones.

With more accidents reported recently in the Tathawade-Punawale belt, residents welcomed the initiative as a timely step. Many said the chatbot makes reporting incidents faster and easier, turning frustration into quick action.

Sachin Londhe, Vice President of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Society Federation, appreciated the coordination led by executive member Vidya Joshi.

The initiative reflects a shift towards digital community policing and encourages residents to play an active role as ‘Traffic Buddies’ in improving road safety.
