A Safer Wanawadi, A Stronger Community
44 CCTV Cameras Strengthen Surveillance At Critical Locations
Wanawadi has strengthened its public safety network with the installation of 44 CCTV surveillance systems across 11 strategic locations. The live feed from these cameras is directly monitored at the Wanawadi Police Station, enhancing round-the-clock vigilance in the area.
This initiative, launched in March 2020, is the first-of-its-kind project undertaken by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to install CCTV systems at the Prabhag level. The project has been funded through the development allocations of Prabhag 25 (Wanawadi–Sopanbaug) by Corporators Prashant Jagtap and Ratnaprabha Jagtap. The foundation stone for the project was laid on March 12, 2020.
Corporator and former Mayor Prashant Jagtap said, “This is the first such project initiated by PMC. It will help curb crime in Wanawadi and assist the police in tracking criminals and taking immediate action. The live recordings, stored for a month, are directly linked to the Wanawadi Police Station.”

- Ruby Hall Arch (Arogya Kothi – Ruby Hall Clinic Chowk)
This marks the first joint effort between PMC and Pune Police aimed at maintaining a crime-free environment and ensuring safety for residents. The cameras have also been geo-tagged, enabling seamless monitoring from the main control room, Wanowrie Bazar Police Chowky, and the Wanawadi Police Station.
The surveillance system has already helped police track anti-social elements and solve cases involving chain snatching, bike thefts, house break-ins and group clashes. The project holds special significance as Wanawadi houses several key government offices, industrial estates, historically important religious sites, the Market Yard, a busy state highway and premium residential zones.
Corporators Prashant Jagtap and Ratnaprabha Jagtap from Prabhag 25 (Wanawadi–Sopanbaug) led this major public safety upgrade under the PMC–Police partnership.
