Sachin Ghule Calls For Urgent Sports Infrastructure To Elevate Undri–Mohammadwadi’s Young Talent
Undri–Mohammadwadi, despite being under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), continues to struggle with a glaring gap — the absence of basic sports arenas and dedicated sports facilities for its rapidly growing population. Ironically, this locality is widely regarded as the “educational capital” of Pune’s southern corridor, home to more than 15 well-established schools that nurture thousands of students each year. While academic excellence is flourishing, the region lacks the spaces required to help children excel in sports, athletics, fitness, and extracurricular pursuits.
Parents, educators, and resident welfare groups have consistently highlighted that the area’s youth possess immense potential. With proper facilities — such as multipurpose sports grounds, indoor training zones, swimming pools, skating rinks, basketball courts, football turfs, and athletics tracks — the locality could become a powerhouse of young sporting talent. What Undri – Mohammadwadi needs is a strong vision backed by committed implementation.
Undri Mohamadwadi also lack public garden which will be taken up on priority once Development Plan is finalised. There are ample spaces in the area which are held by PMC as amenity space which can be utilized for the convenience of citizens.
Local representative Sachin Ghule has emerged as one of the few individuals recognising this untapped opportunity. Understanding the demographic profile of the area — young families, school-going children, and active citizens — he has expressed a clear vision to develop modern sports infrastructure tailored for community development. His approach aligns with the aspirations of residents who believe that structured facilities can transform the locality’s youth landscape and promote holistic growth.
Such developmental projects, however, require not just intent but also execution. This is where voters play a critical role. For a vibrant, growing neighbourhood like Undri–Mohammadwadi, citizens must elect leaders who can not only visualise progress but also bring it to life through tangible actions. In upcoming civic decision-making, the focus must shift toward representatives who prioritise youth development, community well-being, and infrastructure that benefits future generations.
Undri–Mohammadwadi has already proven itself academically. With the right leadership and timely investment in sports facilities, it has the potential to become one of Pune’s most dynamic and well-rounded residential hubs — where every child can dream, train, and achieve.
