Maharashtra Zilla Parishad And Panchayat Samiti Polls Shifted To February 7; Counting On February 9
Mumbai, January 30, 2026: In view of the three-day state mourning declared following the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the State Election Commission has revised the election schedule for the remaining phases of the general elections to 12 Zilla Parishads and their 125 Panchayat Samitis.
As per the revised programme, polling, which was earlier scheduled for February 5, 2026, will now be held on February 7, 2026. Consequently, the counting of votes has been postponed from February 7 to February 9, 2026.
The State Election Commission has directed the respective district collectors to publish the revised election notification on January 31, 2026. Polling will take place on February 7 from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. The deadline for election campaigning has also been extended, and campaigning will now end at 10 pm on February 5, 2026.
Vote counting will begin at 10 am on February 9, 2026, at the designated centres. The Model Code of Conduct in the respective areas will remain in force until the declaration of results. Following the completion of the election process, the names of the elected members will be published in the Government Gazette by February 11, 2026, officials said.
The revised schedule applies only to the remaining phases of the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections across the affected districts in the state.
